My family and I traveled to Cancun and stayed in Carmen Del Playa for spring break. It was a wonderful trip and probably one of the most affordable getaways we have experienced.
Not only is the weather perfect in February and March but this area of Mexico has many recreational and cultural activities for everyone. One of our favorite destinations was Xel-ha; an enormous water park with snorkeling, tubing and restaurants all in beautiful, lush surroundings. A trip to nearby Tulum is unforgettable. This ancient Mayan temple built next to the water was beyond beautiful. Friendly local guides begin your visit with a brief history of the area and then you are free to explore. A hike up a path leads you to an overlook of the entire area.
For our stay we selected an all inclusive resort and were very pleased with all the extras that were included. Particularly, if you are traveling with kids you will appreciate not having to continually reach for your wallet for every coke! Our resort had three restaurants to choose from, a large pool as well as a beautiful beach. The entire resort was very clean, the staff friendly, and the accommodations lovely.
Even though we were visiting during spring break and knew many groups from our hometown also vacationing in Cancun, we did not feel crowded at all. The area is so large and there are so many wonderful resorts that you truly have a sense of being on a special holiday away from it all. We spent our days on the beach, playing beach volleyball, snorkeling on-site and deciding in which of the resorts excellent restaurants we would dine! We also met fellow travelers from all over the United States and many other countries, as well.
All in all, we could not have been more pleased with our trip to Mexico at spring break. It is pretty hard to beat the price when you factor in perfect weather, wonderful accommodations, recreational activities for all ages and unbelievable cultural attractions. I highly recommend a trip to Mexico, particularly Cancun and the surrounding areas in February and March. Go!
